The Groseisen or Big Iron, when not using psudo germanic words, is a Reichssphare planetary defense platform.  Mounting a very large gun, it is more then capable of popping landing troop transports as they enter the atmosphere.  It's also powerful enough to threaten an incautious warship that gets too complacent in its orbit.

Defensively the Groseisen uses fortress scale construction to resist incoming fire passively.  It's weapons are a mix of strong long range anti-air options, and a fairly brutal short range defense.  Weapon batteries are optimized towards air defense with their wider range of fire.  In addition to its own guns the Groseisen carries a mixed company of mechs and vehicles to aid in close defense.

The tech used on the Groseisen is not fancy.  It's safe to say it's designers focused on getting the big gun mounted, and we're not too concerned with secondary systems.

This is a boss unit for nuts and bolts.  Idea is to tell the players "go silence the orbital guns."  They go.  There is nothing there.   And then the hill starts moving...

I wish I could find an active game near me.

Last group I found driving to it wouldn't have been practical, and the only other option was like 1.5-1.75 hours on the trains and walking. Not ideal on a weekday night.

Where even are you abouts?

Fabrizo posted this 13 June 2024

Without getting too specific, I am in the NYC Metro area.

Negative. I do not have or use any social media.

Not sure how close you are to Brooklyn, but Brooklyn Battletech play at the Brooklyn Strategist, sounds like they play on Monday nights predominately. Hope that helps!

That is the group I last found. Unfortunately, that is not a trip I can do after work on a weekday night, nor is it one I really want to do on a weekend. The store in an awkward place for me whether by car or train, plus parking in the city is inconvenient and costly, and the train is expensive.

Thanks though.
