Hi all,

So, I'm trying to get back in the swing of things and I'm trying to rebuild some new designs (plus I had an idea involving a trueborn Goliath Scorpion warrior who joins Wolf's Dragoons after they get trained by the 1st Cateran Cluster with some "new" 'Mechs to go with it). I'm up to just after the 4th War and I even have a few "warship" ideas, but aside from my copy of HM Aero (which I can't quite find right now) I don't know what I should buy.

Any help? I have access to the Tech Manual, but it only covers dropships.

Megameklab for design math support.

StratOps for the additional rules to build warships.

Or find a copy of battlespace or Aerotech 2.  Some things have changed but its not that much of a change IMO.  StratOps is still the book to go to for rules that affect how designs work in game though.

Hilariously I'm currently in the middle of trying to recover HMAero.  Have old design files that I can't read and want to recover.

In a grand amusement there's an app I found that works incredibly well, and is free: Mech Factory. It includes a constructor for everything from conventional fighters to primitive jumpships to Warships, and that's just the Aerospace section.

Know it.  Generally like it.  Don't trust it to be accurate.  Especially with Alpha strike conversion.  Also not sure how up to date it's being.  I know its behind on aerospace fighter Point Values.

Thanks Thunder.  I have a pair of designs burning away in my brain (my job requires me to use my hands daily, but rarely do I need to use anything more than the autonomic functions of my brain) that I would like to put into at the very least a pencil & paper sketch out.

As to the story, I'm working on it bit by bit.  I just don't want it to be a retelling of the story of Wolf's Dragoons, since the majority of it will remain the same (or at least close to canon CBT).  It will diverge during the Marik Civil War when the Dragoons supported Anton.  That was when the Black Widow Company was formed and so it will also be when the Broken Hearts Company will form also (the insignia of the 1st Cateran Cluster is a heart split in half as scorpion venom drips on it, apt I believe for the company's name).

So either I'm not seeing things properly (reading PDFs on my phone is an absolute pain) or I have the wrong sources, but I can't find masses for Naval equipment.  I went through Strategic Ops last night and instead of giving the masses for naval equipment it instead refers me to TacOps and the TechManual for masses.  So I go through both books and neither gives me a mass for gear.  Since I can't find the disk for HM Aero (moving tends to cause issues with items stored various places), I seem to be "stuck."

Any online resources that would be a good fit?

What are you looking for?

I see most things aside from weapons in the construction rules section of Strategic Ops, and Naval weapon weights in the chart on 409 in Tac Ops.

Megameklab can do warships/dropships/space stuff.

Most of the capital weapons are in TacOps.  I think Techmanual has a few of the capital missiles since I think dropships are in that book.

The masses for the various pieces of equipment are found in the charts at the back of TacOps (most Capital and Sub-Capital weapons) and Techmanual (Capital Missiles, as part of Dropship equipment).

I see it now... [checks glasses], but what about the sub-capital's?  I've checked TechManual for them, but aside from the missiles I see nothing else.  Just really annoying how they spread it across 3 books.

Megameklab is being downloaded now... I might be able to post up some things in the near future.  Working on Alternate Timelines can be a real pain, especially when it exists in my head right now.

Thunder posted this 28 September 2023

Sub Caps are in TacOps too.

alternate timelines?  Naw.  I'm on the main timeline, just haven't gotten around to solidifying the human core under my benevolent supreme rule yet.  Boy are they going to feel dumb when they realize they're fighting an island campaign with the army, and I brought a navy instead....

There was a pretty good AU where Jaime Wolf died on Misery and it was up to Natasha Kerensky to carry on.  She disclosed the Dragoons' origin to Hanse Davion and set the scope for a far different scale.

My idea is of a similar bent, but the divergence comes just after the Marik Civil War when Anton decides to betray the Dragoons.  Natasha Kerensky formed her Black Widow Company as in the canon and my OC forms his Heart Breakers Company at the same time.

Well.  I found my HM Aero CD... now I just need to figure out how to get it into my computer.
