Capabilities: Just like the AS7-D model of the Atlas, this variant retains the massive Class-20 Autocannon in the right torso, as well as the SRM-6 Launcher on the left torso. However, the LRM-20 launcher was dropped,as well as the Medium Lasers on each arm, while the rear-mounted Medium Lasers in the center torso were turned around and forward-mounted. In this variant, each arm was mounted with a PPC, giving the battlemech the ability to punch holes at longer ranges; however, the two PPCs also create a lot of waste heat, and even with 20 heat sinks, the cooling system could get overwhelmed if the energy cannons are used indiscriminately. Battle History: During the War of 3039, several Lyran units deployed the AS7-D3 Atlas variant as part of their forces, which surprised and confounded the Kuritan forces. Deployment: Defiance Industried produce the Atlas AS7-D3 variant for around 20 years, before eventually replacing it with a more advanced AS7-S model. ================================================================================ Equipment Type Rating Mass -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Internal Structure: Standard 152 points 10.00 Engine: Fusion Engine 300 19.00 Walking MP: 3 Running MP: 5 Jumping MP: 0 Heat Sinks: Single Heat Sink 20 10.00 Heat Sink Locations: 4 LT, 2 LL, 2 RL Gyro: Standard 3.00 Cockpit: Standard 3.00 Actuators: L: SH+UA+LA+H R: SH+UA+LA+H Armor: Standard Armor AV - 304 19.00 Internal Armor Structure Factor Head 3 9 Center Torso 31 47 Center Torso (rear) 14 L/R Torso 21 30 L/R Torso (rear) 12 L/R Arm 17 34 L/R Leg 21 41 ================================================================================ Equipment Location Heat Critical Mass -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- PPC RA 10 3 7.00 PPC LA 10 3 7.00 Autocannon/20 RT 7 10 14.00 SRM-6 LT 4 2 3.00 2 Medium Lasers CT 6 2 2.00 @AC/20 (10) RT - 2 2.00 @SRM-6 (15) LT - 1 1.00 Free Critical Slots: 16 BattleForce Statistics MV S (+0) M (+2) L (+4) E (+6) Wt. My own variation was the opposite, trading out the SRM 6 and AC/20 for a PPC, medium lasers, a couple of extra heat sinks, and (because I'm weird) Jump Jets. I might suggest trading the srm for 2 mediums and 2 hs, allowing the Atlas to lay down PPC fire forever, but deal quickly with anyone getting in close. Then again, managing heat is something any warrior should be experienced in, and the design is fine as is. Be proud to pilot one.
