Overview: Developed for use in Clan Snow Raven's "S-Teams", the experimental version of the original Dark Crow was popular with those combat groups but had numerous weaknesses. It was fragile, despite its advanced armor, somewhat under-gunned, despite its experimental weapons, and very difficult to build, repair, and maintain. Many commanders also devalued the other Dark Crow variants for not having jump capability, an essential tactic of most Raven Mechwarriors. These concerns led Snow Raven scientists to redesign the Dark Crow, attempting to marry the mobility of the experimental variant with the simplicity of the other variants. Certain compromises were made, but the Dark Crow II would prove to be highly effective and able to be produced in large numbers. It quickly displaced older-model Dark Crows among the Raven's second line forces. Capabilities: The Dark Crow II is built on the same chassis developed for the original Dark Crow. However, virtually every other aspect of the new 'mech has been changed. The most prominent feature of the Dark Crow II is it's partial wing assembly. Inherited from the S-Team variant of the Dark Crow, it gives the 'mech an imposing silhouette but it is more than just cosmetic. A powerful array of improved jump jets covers most of the 'mech's rear torso and its lower legs. These alone would give it superb jump capability but the partial wings extend it even further. When sufficient atmosphere is present, the Dark Crow II can cover an astonishing 300 meters or more in a single jump. This airborne mobility requires some sacrifice, however. The massive jump jet array simply didn't leave room for the bulky and fragile XXL engine used on the S-Team variant of the Dark Crow. Instead, a less powerful XL engine is used instead. This results in a slightly lower ground speed than the original Dark Crow, but was judged a worthwhile tradeoff. With the large jump jet array occupying much of the torsos, the Dark Crow II's weapons are carried exclusively in its characteristic arms. To overcome this limitation, The Snow Ravens carefully selected its weapons load. A common and dependable Type 22 ER PPC offers a heavier long-range punch than any previous Dark Crow variant. In the other arm, a twelve-tube ATM launcher provides flexibility to augment the PPC at long range and provide increasing firepower as range decreases. Overall, the weapons carried by the Dark Crow II are more reliable, simpler, and harder hitting than any variant of the original Dark Crow. Finally, nine tons of ferro-fibrous armor makes the Dark Crow II more durable than its predecessor, even the S-Team variant which carried Ferro-Lamellor armor. An ECM Suite also helps protect the Dark Crow II and its allies. Variants: A space operations variant of the Dark Crow II removes the partial wing assembly, which offers little benefit in a vacuum. Instead, the SO variant carries two additional double heat sinks and a reaction-mass reservoir for the jump jets. All other aspects of the SO variant are the same as the base model.

I never thought I'd see a Dark Crow that was interesting. Color me impressed.
I really like how the guns used are great, but avoid meshing *too* well with the jump range. I fall into that pitfall too many times where I make some bullshit movement machine and boat pulses. No wonder I've made tons of Introtech mechs recently.
