Death comes in many ways. More often than not, it's in the form of manmade lightning.

Good day, fellow Solaris 7 BT-nuts! You may have wondered what the Thanatos could have been as an OmniMech. Wasted opportunity, too: the Inner Sphere might have had an opportunity to field their own heavy cavalry Omni to counter the hordes of Clanners and their beloved 5/8/x movement profile.

Well, here's a personal interpretation of the big guy. The fluff isn't quiiiite there yet, but the stats are well and ready!

Overview:

"Carmen, final check - the pod is secured, yes?"

"Aye, sir Julian; pod's all good."

"Copy that. Carmen. Alright, lift her up and install her so that we can all go home."

The whine of a loader crane echoed throughout the bay, almost deafening in its singular determination to raise the pod. That pod looked... utilitarian, to say the least - little more than a barely-decorated rectangular prism, with six missile tubes arranged horizontally three-by-two.

Carmen stared at it, hiding her distaste with a stoic face. Why was it that the design had to be so nondescript? Even the salvaged Thor, blocky as it may have been, had a bit of asymmetrical charm resembling a good old Thunderbolt. This new design had none of that; it may as well have been a block of steel on a gargantuan rabbit's legs.

Still, it was what it was. In times like this, she reminded herself that the 'Mech would eventually earn its own beauty - covered in Clan rubble, smoldering, riddled with holes... but utterly victorious.

Maybe. There were still many tests left, after all - that day was still months away at the least. 

StarCorps Industries was no stranger to the OmniMech market, having produced the Black Hawk-KU, Avatar, and Sunder OmniMechs under license from Luthien Armor Works. Three years spent on producing both 'Mech and 'Pod parts became learning experiences with the technology - and with the occasional salvaged Clan 'mech under examination, it was only a matter of time before StarCorps decided to create their own OmniMech.

While the licensed OmniMechs were all good in their own right, they sought to make theirs unique - and, perhaps, unmatched in the Sphere. The path to that came from the OmniMechs' progenitors: the Clans. In a stroke of luck and good deals, a near-pristine Thor came into the Crofton facility's possession. The design had already earned the respect of military analysts all over the Inner Sphere, so it was a no-brainer to base their design off of it.

The end product took nearly two years from primary concept to final product, even with things moving smoother than expected. The wait was well worth it, however - the design, christened Thanatos from a company-wide poll, rapidly became a favorite.

(... it's a little tiring to write fluff, actually. I'll get back to this in due time!)

Solid Design.  Slight tendency for ERPPC's to be included on any given configuration.  Good job.

I want to take one, exchange all ERPPC's with Large Pulse Lasers, fit a targeting computer into it (may require just switching the PPC for the TC in case's like the Bravo) and probly see how many MPL's I can fit in place of the medium-range direct-fire weaponry such as the ERML's of course again in the Bravo pack.
