The Taint.  A degrading influence upon Clan Superiority caused by the corruption of the Inner Sphere.

So what is current sentiment towards mixed tech designs?

My Current internal debate involves changing a BA design to use an Inner Sphere chassis to save a few Kilograms on what is otherwise a pure clan design.  Main reason I want to do this is to improve the armor numbers nominally to make conversion to Alpha strike "easier" as 4,5 and 6 man squads are calculated.  From a TW perspective the armor goes from ridiculously low to barely acceptable, but at the cost of the Harjel and other support systems that are supposed to be included in the clan chassis's additional mass.

I try to stay away from mixed designs unless they have a justification in fluff (like long battles with few supplies or captured factories and no supplies from home).

Where are you hanging out in the timeline?   Republic of the sphere, dark age etc see a rather significant rise in mixed tech, simply because the clan tech is being disseminated by Clan sea fox.  Fairly sure clan grade factories are also being built within the inner sphere by that time range.  A fair number of designs in the 3145ish tro's are naturally mixed tech.

One would think that most the large powers with in the IS would be producing some if not a lot of clan tech by the time of the blackout. Especially the Republic.

Not in the time of the Republic.

There are factories that are naturally building Clan tech by 3085; the Republic was stated to have taken on huge amounts of debt to Clan Ghost Bear and Sea Fox to upgrade their factories to Clan-spec, and each house can build at least 1 piece of clan technology.

I don't care at all. While I know my impeccable standards have lightened somewhat due to the plebians on the CBT boards, mixed tech with a story is no big deal, especially in a post-jihad unit.

As long as there's a reasonable explanation in the fluff, I'm okay with mixed tech designs. That's why I wasn't happy with how the wobbies got their Clan-spec stuff; the explanation makes it sound like a complete asspull.

I personally wouldn't care if other people use mixed tech.  I, myself, have only done it a few times.  There were some out-of-universe designs that I did that with.  There was a ER ML boat I made that I upgraded to clan ER MLs. I explained that in the fluff as a major effort to scrounge such weapons from friendly mercs who were willing to part with such salvage. And finally I made a design with talons, because, why is that a Clan weapon?

For my memories of 2007 I'm going to hold this over your head, Don!
