Long range c3

I'm thinking about a c3 lance with a LAM for a spotter.  LAMs are sooooo damn fast, tho.  I think I need super-long range attacks.

I like ELRMs, but they do so little damage.  Would Arrow IV be better?

Tag is your friend because you don't need a full network of it to keep it operational.

Artillery doesnt benefit from c3. Nor do indirrect attacks.

I took your advice and swapped some weaponry for Angel ECM on the LAM. It seems like a good idea.

The Master carrier is going to have 3 ELRM-10s.

The secondary 'mech is going to have an Arrow IV, an ER PPC, a c3 slave and an emergency c3 master.

A bodyguard 'mech is going to be prowling around with 9 ER medium lasers aided by a targeting computer and a c3 slave.  It uses some special effects in order to remain heat neutral.

And then there's the LAM.  It's going to have an ER medium laser, an ER flamer, TAG, a c3 slave and an Angel ECM.  With a WiGE movement potential of 24/36, I don't think there's much fear of getting hit by attacks, lest they are attacks that target hexes.  Flak might also possibly be painful.  I'm not sure how I'm going to deal with those.

But Arrow IV does, doesn't it?

Nope.

Put it this way, what are the range bands of arrow IV? Or, when is range included for an arrow IV's to hit number?

What about Arrow IV Homing Missiles?

C3 helps the TAG hit. Homing rounds hit on a 4+ on anything that has been tagged

Yeah, but since the fastest unit would be the one with TAG, c3 would not help much at all.

Unless there was an ambush.

An LAM as a spotter? A Recon Camera does the same task but does not work with C3. The Recon Camera is good for spotting with rang and no need to lock-on for guidance but works great for indirect fire (IDF). They are also .5 tons and are lighter then tag and may be used from air. I would never risk an LAM for spotting with C3 slave or TAG anymore but would take advantage of the PPC or ER PPC or some other long ranged direct fire weapon with C3 Slave for sniping. C3 would only be used in Airmech or mech mode. But light strike and low intensity units with TAG or C3 Slave are fine. From my understanding of construction roles I am unable to read C3 as a option for LAMs. TAG, Recon Camera's, Communications Equipment, ECM, Active Probes, and Bomb Bays are on the list. I approve of your choices for your LAM. I would have the flamer removed for an medium laser located in the center torso. That speed is awesome.

You can have C3 on a LAM, but it's more of a question if its worth the cost in BV. Personally, I would rather have a 5-on bomb bay on a LAM for the sole purpose of a tactical Nuke.
