So what's been going on? What happened to the old S7? And why do we need to answer a question to register?
So.... It's been awhile...

I missed the take down as well, but from what I gather,
Skyhigh needed to move the site, and there were some technical complications involved in that that made it impractical/impossible to transfer the data from the old site, and/or set the new one up again like the old one.
Advanced notice was given for people to get any info they didn't want to lose off the old site, but many people (like myself) never noticed the warning as we were not dropping by a lot.
Don't recall anything about questions. I found the new site shortly after it had gone like, don't recall if there were any registration questions or if so what they were.
The question was "Who controlled communications within the Inner Sphere" or something like that so I put ComStar, but that was invalid. So then I was like OK, Word of Blake, but that was wrong too. Comstar was the correct answer.
So is BT still alive and well? It looked like CBT.com is no more. What's new in the world?
That does sound familiar now that you mention it.
Battletech is alive, how well it is I'm not sure.
They havent put out a novel since Dark Ages novel since 2009. They did put out a book in each 2015 & 2016 set in the pre-Jihad timeline, but they were the 1st two since 2003. I highly doubt more will follow.
As far as the tabletop game goes, they are still putting out source books, but they haven't done much more than ~15 page books highlighting certain worlds in the past 2 years.
Computer game side seems to be doing OK. Mechwarrior 5:Mercenaries is in production, and original creator Jordan Weisman & game company Harebrained Schemes are about finished with a turnbased game that should be out (hopefully), in the next few months.
Interesting. Is that turn based game like MegaMek?
Interesting
So I really haven't been into BT for many years, and my books are collecting dust so I've decided to sell them. They're up on the eBay. If people are interested, I'll list them here when I can.

The website is alive, check http://bg.battletech.com/
So...everything is gone. Step away to take care of RL for a year or ten then come back to nothing. Ugh.
We are still there, split among different things and real life issues but we are still hanging around.

I like to think of it as "spring cleaning" in the most expedient manor. Besides, how well did you expect a website and its data made in ~2003 to transfer to current scripting?
I'm alive!
Explain your absence! And the results of the Assault lances in the previous nuts and bolts event!
Now seriously, how are you, and whats been happening?
And the results of the Assault lances in the previous nuts and bolts event!
That would be great
And we missed you.
BT is alive and actually surging a little thanks to HBS's game and Catalyst finally getting box sets out. In regards to S7, basically what Fabrizo said: Skyhigh needed to transfer web services, the new service didn't like the old site, so it stayed down. I talked to Skyhigh and got these forums online, but unfortunately this is about as much as I think we'll ever see of the old Solaris 7. Still a great place to catch up with "the old gang"
Well since you have better contacts then we do, can you ask Skyhigh if there is a backup of the old S7? And how much it would cost to get a copy?
Holy Cow!! Look at all those names. Haven't seen this bunch in a while

We are the names?
LOL Yepp. Gotta say I miss the old S7.
I wonder if it would be possible to crank that up again?
I'm sure it would be possible. Whether there is the demand and if anyone has the time, money, and inclination to is another question.
