Overview:
The TNS-5T was the latest variant of the Thanatos battlemech, which was
produced by StarCorp Industries.  An antithesis of the previous Thanatos
models, the TNS-5T was meant for fire support, as opposed to the brawling
nature of both the TNS-4S and TNS-4T models.

Capabilities:
The TNS-5T variant utilizes a Vlar 300XL fusion engine, providing a top speed
of 64 km/h, which is average for its class, but has four jump jets for improved
mobility.  This variant also has a Guardian ECM Suite and C3 Slave, just like
the other Thanatos variants.

The main hitting power of the TNS-5T comes in the form of a Poland Main A Gauss
Rifle on its left arm.  This is supported by a Doombud LRM-20 launcher on the
right arm.  Each of these weapons were supplied with their own three-ton ammo
bin, ensuring a certain degree of longevity in the battlefield.  For
close-combat, the TNS-5T sports a Defiance Model XII ER Medium Laser on each
side torso, and a RAMTech 800P Medium Pulse Laser on the left arm.

Due to its cool-running nature (unless alpha-striking is involved), this
Thanatos variant only has 10 base double heat sinks; but on the other hand,
armor was increased by a ton.

Deployment:
Like the earlier variants, the Thanatos TNS-5T variants were primarily deployed
by the LAAF and the AFFS.

Variants:
TNS-5TL  -- this sub-variant replaces the fragile XL engine with the
newly-invented Light Fusion Engine, at the cost of four jump jets and a ton of
armor.

Not bad, but no CASE in 3060+? Shame!

Luxan posted this 03 September 2017

Sure, no CASE, but with that XL Engine it wouldn't do much good. Only CASE II would save you and that's a stretch in 3064.

Thunder posted this 03 September 2017

Only doesnt matters in a one off game. Any type of campaign and CASE will save the xl engine for salvage

Luxan posted this 04 September 2017

It's an old debate. Yes the CASE will leave the mech salvageable. But just as likely for your opponent to salvage as for you.

Thunder posted this 07 September 2017

And this is why they invented booby traps. (well that and for breaking alpha strike...)
